Old phones to help Ukraine

IS THERE AN OLD NOKIA OR AN OUT OF DATE MOBILE, IN A DRAWER SOMEWHERE?

Most people seem to have at least one. IN UKRAINE IT COULD BE A LIFESAVER for front line drone warning or for family contact. PLEASE DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD UNWANTED MOBILE BY HANDING IT OVER TO HELP UKRAINE.

We are trying to find as many old mobiles or retired smartphones (preferably with their chargers) as possible from Codford and the surrounding villages. If you can remove the SIM card and restore the phone to factory settings it would be helpful. But if this is a digital challenge too far, please relax. It can be cleared of contacts etc. for you if you let us have the PIN or AppleID if one is needed.

A collection is also being made locally to buy and drive a used 4x4 pick-up truck to Lviv in convoy in early summer. It will be full of useful items for Ukrainians in the front line, such as spades, generators, mobile phones, warm clothing, medical packs, blankets, etc. The Charity is Pick-ups for Peace. John Russell of Warminster and three other Men’s Breakfasters are fundraising now to buy and stock the pick-up.

Please drop your old phone(s) in the green box ‘collecting point’at: THE OLD RECTORY NORTH, CHURCH LANE, CODFORD St MARY, BA12 0PJ. Telephone 01985 850586. If you leave your name and contact number, it will be acknowledged. Thank you very much.

Pick-ups for Peace, Scottish Charity Number SC052484. More than five hundred pick-ups and many tons of vital stores have already been delivered by the charity.
