Wylye Valley’s Famous Five Are Making a Joyful Noise — Fancy Joining Them? - Anthony Bainbridge

Enid Blyton - may her shadow never grow less - did not, I think, send her Famous Five up a spiral staircase into a ringing chamber. Whyever not?  Bells have been used for centuries to warn of skullduggery and to alert the citizenry.  We do it to this day.

We at Codford St Peter, ever alert to the need to make a noise 'to the glory of God', can embarrass Blyton fans everywhere. We have our own Famous Five - and don't they enjoy themselves!  From left to right we find Sarah H, Annabel, Caroline, Stella and Sarah D.  On this particular occasion we men were outnumbered and wisely kept out of sight.

W are keen to grow this female band from five to (at least) six. Can you help us?  We can soon train you to the point where you will not only handle a bell but grin at the same time. And by the way, our numbers are drawn from several of the Valley communities, not only Codford. So do please pick up the phone (Nick on 850724,. Anthony on 851079).

I might add that we could easily put together a Famous Five of male ringers. So don't let the women call all the shots.
