An exhibition by NICK ANDREW celebrating South Wiltshire’s five chalk rivers - Nick Andrew.
Nick Andrew’s latest plein air drawing project is titled: ‘CONFLUENCE’- researching and drawing the sources, tributaries and confluences of the five rivers (Avon, Bourne, Ebble, Nadder and Wylye) which define the geography of South Wiltshire, flowing towards and through Salisbury.
The drawings have all been made on location since January 2024, throughout the seasons and in all weathers, exploring rivers and streams from flooded winter torrents in full flow, through to dried- up winterbournes in the summer heat.
The ‘CONFLUENCE’ collection of 26 drawings is being exhibited at Fisherton Mill, 108 Fisherton Street, Salisbury. SP2 7QY from Saturday 30 August – Saturday 27 September 2025.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 9.30am-5pm; Saturday, 9.30am-5.30pm. Free admission.
Each drawing has a written narrative of things experienced during the 3 – 4 hours while the drawing was being made, such as wildlife, bird- song, encounters, sounds, the weather and more. Nick’s studio is in part of an old watermill on the river Wylye, near Warminster. Nick also works as a designer and teacher and is the founder and organiser of the Wylye Valley Art Trail.
Meet the Artist. Nick will be drawing at the gallery every Saturday during the exhibition, View images of the collection at www.nickandrewdrawingprojects.wordpress.com/confluence
