Ladies circle outing to West Lavington Manor - Jenny Hunt.

On 13th May the ladies circle visited West Lavington to look at the gardens at the Manor. We had booked a private viewing so we had the gardens to ourselves.

The garden was set out in rooms, which we wandered through. We started in the herbaceous border then moved on to the Japanese garden, which was stunning, ponds and water features and beautiful acers. We then moved onto the rose garden, there weren't many blooms out, but would look good in a couple of weeks. There was a big pond in the middle where we saw lots of tadpoles.

After that we moved on down through the trees and came to a meandering stream and a large lake with a duck house. There was a large chess set in one of the little rooms and a greenhouse. The garden then rose up to an 18 foot wall where there was an orchard and grape vines. Everywhere you looked there was topiary.
After our visit to the garden we went to the village pub and had a lovely lunch. Just as we sat down the heavens opened and it rained heavily. How lucky were we?
Our next meeting will be on June 10th in Daisy Swallows garden at 3pm.
